I needed to do this:
First of all edit the alsa configuration file
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
then add the following line at the end of file:
options snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode3
Save, and run these commands
sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart
sudo alsa force-reload

sudo alsa force-reload
Now test and enjoy sound in your headphones again.
